What is riothermia?

This process allows the recovering of heat from sewage waters.

VIVAQUA has developed a heat exchanger at low cost thanks to the choice of a cheap material.  This system, which is installed during sewer renovation, makes it possible to heat buildings in winter and to provide air-conditioning in summer.

First large-scale project in Uccle

The municipality of Uccle has chosen this technology for its administrative centre located on rue de Stalle. The heat exchangers installed by VIVAQUA provide up to 25% of the building’s cooling and heating needs, which reduces its annual CO2 emissions by 40 to 60 tonnes.

An air conditioning system for Brucity

The City of Brussels has commissioned VIVAQUA to provide air conditioning for its Brucity administrative centre. The riothermal air-conditioning system cools the building using ceilings cooled by sewage water, rather than traditional air-conditioning units. It’s an environmentally-friendly solution (and an economical one, too, because it uses less energy)!
